Thanks everyone for making our final rummage sale before the demolition a huge success! We had great turnout from the community and from our core group at the event hosted on Saturday, September 29th. We sold well over a hundred bags filled with clothing, as well as quite a few odds and ends that have been donated over time (books, chairs, toys, scented candles, etc.). Everyone worked hard to organize, clean, and do community outreach; whether for informing people about what the center soon will be, or on our work in the Poor People’s Campaign. Special thanks to Neighborhood Networks for running the Voter Registration table, Philadelphia Legal Assistance for being able to provide legal expertise in a multitude of areas, and Second Mile for picking up much of the clothes that were not purchased during the sale itself.
With this “last hurrah” in the new center as we have known it, we’re now on to bigger and better things, as the demolition is now under way! We’re incredibly excited about what the future home of the Crossroads Women’s Center will look like going forward.
